We’re currently recruiting for a Children’s Support Assistant to join a SEND School in Darlington on a long- or short-term basis with an immediate start available.
You’ll be joining an inclusive and nurturing specialist provision, focused on wellbeing and independence, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, learning difficulties, and SEMH.
This is a great opportunity for a new or experienced support worker to become a familiar face in a setting where consistency, structure and care are at the heart of everything they do.

Children’s Support Assistant – Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Following all school policies and safeguarding procedures
2. Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to pupils’ individual needs
3. Supporting pupils with additional needs including autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties
4. Assisting with behaviour management using positive and consistent strategies
5. Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop social skills
6. Adapting learning activities to support engagement and understanding
7. Supporting with personal care where required
8. Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Children’s Support Assistant – Requirements or Skills:
9. Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
10. Understanding of SEN, including autism and/or SEMH needs
11. A calm, patient, and resilient approach
12. Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team
13. Comfortable supporting personal care if required
14. A compassionate, flexible, and proactive attitude
