Key Responsibilities
Oversight of the Spear Programme
The Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions and a weekly 1:1 coaching session with each trainee, focusing on skills and mindsets to support their return to work or education and help them stay there.
* Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
* Oversee all aspects of programme coordination and delivery.
* Ensure programme delivery aligns with targets, and report on enrolment, retention, completion, and progress to Resurgo and the church.
Partnership liaison and relationship management
* Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with local referral partners, raising the profile of Spear within Ipswich and enabling access for young people who would benefit.
* Maintain relationships with young people post-enrollment to encourage participation and ensure full cohorts.
Line management and training
* Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, fostering their growth and development.
* Collaborate with River Church staff and Resurgo’s Church Partnerships Manager to support the growth of the Spear centre, its team, and young people, fulfilling the shared mission in Ipswich.
* Report to Resurgo teams on KPIs and use outcomes data to improve programme effectiveness.
Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry
* Build relationships with church leaders and members to engage support for Spear, without requiring the candidate to join River Church if already part of another church.
* Assist with grant applications and reporting in collaboration with the Head of Operations and Fundraising Assistant.
* Keep the congregation informed about the Spear programme to integrate it into the church’s mission.
Personal qualities we're looking for:
* An active Christian who embodies the values of Resurgo and River Church, committed to spiritual growth and Christian leadership.
* Passionate about social justice and community transformation, especially supporting young people in employment or education.
* Engaging, creative, and self-motivated, with experience in coaching and training groups and individuals.
* A proactive leader with line management experience, able to prioritize and work under pressure.
* Excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence, confident in building relationships, and bringing a sense of fun!
