The Ophthalmic Technician will carry out pre- and post-operative ophthalmic testing for patients, as well as assist with surgical and administrative duties within the nursing team. They will also play a pivotal role in the patient journey and help to coordinate the management plan required for the patient. Ophthalmic Technician responsibilities:
Clinical Imaging Perform a wide range of advanced imaging tests, including: Macula and Peripheral OCT (including Ultrawidefield and Navigated OCT) OCT Angiography (OCT-A) Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF) Ultrawidefield Fundus Photography Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG) Adaptive Optics (AO) Microperimetry Full-Field Stimulus Threshold (FST) Electrophysiology tests (e.g., ERG, PERG, mfERG) Biometry and Axial Length Measurements
The Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications and Experience: Ability to demonstrate initiative. Approachable, polite, and flexible with excellent communication skills. Ideally, but not necessarily recent experience in an ophthalmic environment. Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks.
