The Role:

New City College, London’s largest FE college group, is looking for an exceptional IT Manager to join our IT Services leadership team. This is a key role responsible for ensuring our multi‑site environment runs smoothly, securely and efficiently, enabling staff and students to thrive.

As IT Manager, you will take operational ownership of IT services across assigned campuses, ensuring systems are resilient, reliable and meet the needs of a diverse and busy organisation. You will lead and develop a high‑performing team of Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technicians, providing technical leadership, clear direction and a strong customer‑focused culture.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills and a commitment to service improvement. You’ll act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, support major projects, and play a vital role in ensuring we are operationally ready for enrolment, exams, inspections and other key college events.

Key responsibilities:

* Lead operational IT delivery across your campuses
* Manage and develop a high-performing technical team
* Act as senior technical escalation point for complex issues
* Ensure services meet agreed SLAs and performance standards
* Work closely with Group Infrastructure & Security colleagues to maintain consistent technical standards
* Support key College events such as enrolment and examinations
* Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and documentation
* This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems but also understands that leadership, accountability and communication are equally important.

What we are looking for:

* Significant experience in enterprise IT environments
* Strong technical background across infrastructure, virtualisation, endpoint and network technologies
* Experience managing and developing IT staff
* Confidence handling high-impact incidents and making decisions under pressure
* Excellent communication skills, particularly when engaging non-technical stakeholders
* A pragmatic, calm and solution-focused approach

Experience within Further Education or the public sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

What We Offer:

* Pension: New City College provides a career average pension scheme for all staff. Support staff fall under the Local Government Pension Scheme
* Accessibility: All college sites are easily accessible for wheelchair users and via public transport (bus, DLR, or tube).
* On-Site Facilities: Free access to on-site gym facilities at some campuses and on-site cafes serving subsidised food and drinks.
* Staff Development: Five CPD (Continuing Professional Development) days per year, with access to industry-standard facilities and a collaborative working environment. Leading to opportunities for career advancement and professional development in a supportive setting.
* Financial Perks: Interest-free loans for annual travel season tickets. Health cash plan (reimbursement for dental, optical, and therapy treatments) and a completely confidential Employee assistance program.
* Discounts: Save money on day-to-day expenses, shopping, dining out, DIY, and travel.
* Technology Access: Office 365 and Adobe Suite available for personal devices.

The closing date given is a guide only. There may be some occasions where we have to close a vacancy once sufficient applications have been received. It is therefore advisable that you submit your application as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
