Are you an experienced and passionate SEND professional looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs?
We are seeking a Specialist SEND Support Practitioner to join a supportive and inclusive secondary and sixth form school in Bury, working with pupils aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
Specialist SEND Support Practitioner Role and Responsibilities:
Provide expert support to pupils with complex learning, sensory, or behavioural needs.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver personalised interventions that promote learning, engagement, and independence.
Support the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
Use your specialist skills to help pupils access the curriculum, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals.
Mentor and coach other staff in best practice strategies for SEND support.
Specialist SEND Support Practitioner - What We're Looking For:
Professional experience in specialist SEND support, ideally within a school or educational setting.
Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, behaviour support, and other complex learning difficulties.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies.
A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach, with a commitment to enabling every pupil to thrive.
Specialist SEND Support Practitioner - To Be Eligible You Must:
Hold the Right to Work in the UK
Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
