Band 8A Principal Clinical Scientist – Radiotherapy Treatment Planning
We are offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced senior clinical scientist to join our Radiotherapy Physics team at the Cancer Centre in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.
Our department has a long-standing record of research and collaboration, development of equipment and clinical service, and a high commitment to quality and governance; including the implementation of novel treatment for the direct irradiation of rectal cancers using electronic brachytherapy. We were the first Radiotherapy Centre in the North of England to clinically implement the new Varian Halcyon linac, and are rolling out SGRT on all Linacs while undertaking further development and research.
We utilise electronic quality management systems and the Varian ARIA system, and maintain UKAS accreditation to the BS70000 MPACE standard and ISO9001 certification.
Role Overview
The Principal Clinical Scientist Lead for Treatment Planning will be a key member of the Radiotherapy Physics scientific and leadership team, working under the direction of the Head of Treatment Planning and the Head of Radiotherapy Physics. The post holder will provide specialist expertise in treatment planning, supporting the safe and effective delivery of radiotherapy across the clinical service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist expertise in treatment planning and support delivery across the clinical service.
* Support the ongoing RightSizing of the Radiotherapy service, increasing capacity and optimizing treatment pathways.
* Align systems, workflows, and processes to meet current and future service demands, including advanced and hypofractionated techniques.
* Develop and introduce new planning techniques, technologies and workflows.
* Supervise staff, coordinate workload, deliver service, develop team, recruit, appraise and plan workforce.
