What Your Role Will Entail
As our Financial Operations Lead, you'll be at the heart of our financial function, managing everything from daily activities to long-term forecasting. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Producing monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
* Overseeing all accounting and bookkeeping processes to ensure complete accuracy and compliance.
* Delivering detailed financial analysis to senior leadership to inform crucial business decisions.
* Spearheading budgeting and forecasting initiatives to support our ambitious expansion plans.
* Handling all statutory filings, including VAT returns, payroll, and supporting external audits.
* Providing guidance and mentorship to a junior team member to ensure operational excellence.
* Engaging in key commercial negotiations and managing business relationships with suppliers and clients.
* Maintaining our credit and commercial insurance policies to safeguard the company's financial interests.
* Assisting with submissions and documentation for business development opportunities.
* Identifying and implementing continuous improvements to our financial processes and systems.
Your Experience and Skills
We are looking for someone with a proven track record and the right combination of technical and leadership skills.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior finance role within a contracting or specialized project-based business with a revenue exceeding £18 million.
* A strong history of preparing and presenting comprehensive financial reports and strategic business insights.
* Expertise in SAGE 50 and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with intricate spreadsheet modelling.
* In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and best practices.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non-finance professionals.
* A qualified accountant, such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or another recognized certification like CPA or CFA
