An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1.0 WTE (37.5 hours) Specialist Physiotherapist to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Outpatients Prosthetic Service. Specialist Rehabilitation covers the Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair Service. The role will be mainly based within the Prosthetic Department with some leadership support offered to the other Specialist Rehabilitation departments if required.
The Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has a full complement of highly skilled Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Prosthetists, Technical Instructors and Prosthetics Technicians who specialise in the treatment of adults and children amputees.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge around prosthetics and amputee rehabilitation.
We are looking for a highly motivated physiotherapist, who is innovative with a commitment to excellence at incorporates education, adult and research.
A significant component of the post will involve operational line management to the physiotherapy team. The job holder will be responsible for their own continuous, personal and professional development and will be expected to follow the Leeds Way values of the organisation and model these behaviours within their leadership.
Responsibilities
* Perform specialist assessments, diagnosis and treatment of patients with limb loss, both locally and regionally.
* Coordinate the activities of the team ensuring efficient and effective service provision.
* Provide training, supervision and clinical expertise to qualified, unqualified staff and students.
* Act as a role model to the physiotherapy team, promoting quality evidence-based practice.
* Manage own individual caseload, prioritising to meet service demands.
* Support the Head of Service in day-to-day management of the physiotherapy team, support staff and students.
* Deliver the physiotherapy element of rehabilitation programmes and, when required, provide elements normally undertaken by other MDT members.
* Represent the physiotherapy service at multi-disciplinary team meetings and discharge planning.
* Participate in staff appraisal scheme as appraisee and appraiser, maintaining personal development portfolio.
* Engage in continuous professional development and CPD activities.

* Evidence of successful working and collaboration within an MDT.
* Evidence of ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally.

* Evidence of teaching, supervision and assessment of qualified and unqualified staff.
* Time management skills.
Experience
* Significant postgraduate prosthetic clinical experience at a Senior level.
* Evidence of knowledge of audit and relevant outcome measures.
Qualifications
* Degree in physiotherapy.
* HCPC registration.
Desirable
* Relevant clinical courses and in-service training.
Additional requirements
* Ability to cope working in a stressful environment.
* Ability to deal with emotional or aggressive patients and carers.
