: Job Overview: Reporting to the Operations Director your role will be to plan, organise, develop, direct, and control the activities of the production team to accomplish the short and long-range goals and objectives. This position holder will work closely with the Team in all activities to ensure the safety, profitability, and success of the production team. This includes but is not limited to leadership and supervision of Team Members in a Continuous Improvement Environment and utilising Lean Principles with a focus on Safety, Quality and Customer Responsiveness. Main Duties & Responsibilities Provide leadership to Assembly, Fabrication, Machining, Paint, Maintenance / Facilities, (H&S), Quality and Supply Chain functions. Work closely with leadership team to drive operational improvements, order fulfilment, quality control, shipping, delivery and coordinating merchandise processing issues. Review metrics including inventories, production, quality, profitability and sales (interco). Identify and reduce variation in process to improve customer satisfaction and quality, ultimately reducing cost and waste. Strategic planning of the operation. Direct activities of production personnel engaged in manufacturing including lean manufacturing, 5S Visual controls, improvement activities and Terex Business System. Identify production CAPEX requirements to ensure capability, support organisational strategies. Develop department goals, tactics, and objectives to ensure alignment with company strategy. Evaluate and expeditiously evaluate internal and external quality feedback and act on it from the appropriate product managers, Quality Council and/or other key department managers. Prepare, review, and manage operation and distribution budgets that ensure all financial objectives are achieved. Ensure safety initiatives are followed. Train, develop, and coach direct reports in hiring, staff development, disciplinary actions and human resource policy. The successful candidate should ideally have: HNC/ or equivalent in an Engineering or general Business management subject. BSc/BA in an Engineering or general Business management subject. (desirable) Significant experience in manufacturing management in a lean, heavy equipment manufacturing environment. Production experience, with proven operations and warehouse leadership knowledge. Experience with budget management. Proven ability to develop, mentor, and coach leaders. A successful track record of building teams. Experience with budget management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of continuous improvement methodology (lean manufacturing, JIT, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen techniques, etc.) Results orientation. Ability to contribute to a continuous improvement environment Business acumen Planning and priority setting ability Must be performance driven. Able and willing to change the status quo and effectively champion change. Exceptional communication and people skills. Integrity and trust. Team player. Ability to interact professionally with all levels of internal management, staff as well as outside clients and suppliers. High degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion required.
