Role Overview
You will provide strategic and clinical leadership to drive the regional implementation of the Aspirant Cancer Career Education and Development (ACCEND) Framework, supporting the development of a skilled, sustainable, and future‑ready cancer workforce.
Main Duties
* Lead the regional implementation of the ACCEND Framework, designing, delivering and monitoring systems for continuous learning and career progression.
* Coordinate across health boards, trusts, HEIW, and education providers to establish robust processes and resources.
* Provide specialist guidance and support to the cancer workforce, ensuring staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills for safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care.
* Drive change management programmes, using quality improvement methodology to develop performance metrics, KPIs and audits.
* Analyse workforce data and feedback to inform continuous improvement and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities.
* Produce progress reports and recommendations for senior leadership.
* Facilitate learning through workshops, meetings and digital platforms, sharing best practice.
* Influence senior leaders to adopt new ways of working and embed them into organisational structures.
* Communicate complex information with discretion and clarity, presenting data to support decision‑making.
* Provide specialist clinical leadership and educational advice to support workforce capability across clinical settings.
* Develop and deliver training programmes, including clinical education, coaching, and mentoring.
* Manage and monitor budgets for ACCEND implementation.
* Lead teaching and training programmes aligned to ACCEND, creating learning pathways and resources.
* Maintain knowledge of postgraduate education commissioning, workplace learning governance, and accreditation processes.
* Serve as a role model for professional standards, promoting accountability, integrity, and excellence.
* Operate autonomously within professional frameworks, exercising independent judgement.
* Manage competing priorities effectively across a defined region.
* Use digital learning platforms and virtual collaboration tools to support learning.
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Professional registration (NMC or HCPC).
* Master’s degree in a relevant health‑related subject or equivalent experience.
* Ongoing, relevant CPD evidence.
* Quality Improvement qualification.
* Knowledge of national and UK nursing/AHP issues, ACCEND framework, health‑care policy, and national directives.
* Leadership and management training.
Experience
* Clinically credible senior cancer care experience.
* Experience teaching and assessing in clinical practice.
* Programme and project management experience.
* Experience working within national cancer policies and improvement plans.
* Experience engaging external stakeholders.

Benefits & Compensation
Pay is scaled for full‑time members; the salary is adjusted pro‑rata for part‑time work. Progression will be determined by annual performance reviews in line with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy.
