At NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) we are a kind of service that saves and improves lives. We have a unique opportunity to join our service within Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) as an Associate Product Manager.
As an Associate Product Manager, you will be responsible for actively supporting the safe and effective delivery of business and technology product change, into the live service environment by providing critical specialist knowledge of the Business and technology within their product domain to support the entire software delivery lifecycle (requirements, design, development & testing).
Main duties of the job
In this role you will possess knowledge of the OTDT technology landscape, ensuring appropriate solutions are delivery in line with the needs of the business.
You will have product management skills; user acceptance testing skills and have a technical understanding of the existing OTDT technology products and current architecture.
You will support the strategic direction of OTDT technology through providing product specialist knowledge across the product centre, conducting user acceptance testing and training, whilst supporting Product Managers to maintain the product vision for integrated change roadmap and will champion improved ways of working (e.g. Agile).
The postholder will also provide subject matter expertise to other domains or projects across the business where critical change to OTDT technology is involved and therefore a dependency is placed on the product management team’s product specialist knowledge. (e.g. NTXD, Donor Path Family Changes). You will deliver specialist training in a complex and safety critical context and will contribute to design such training for others to deliver.

Experience and Knowledge
1. Experience in the product lifecycle and how products in different stages of it benefit from different design and development approaches.
2. Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise workload and commitments.
3. Experience of MS Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
4. Ability to set clear expectations and hold to account skills and abilities.
5. Clear understanding of risk evaluation and mitigation.
6. Knowledge of database construction and development.
7. Has an awareness of common technology standards – including software, security, privacy, and accessibility standards.
8. Experience of delivering change for large-scale complex technology change in the public sector.
9. Experience managing demand of new and existing products and services in an agile environment.
10. Expert in defining & communicating outcomes to be met by a product area and its related services, whether these are user needs, technical requirements, or business-related outcomes.
11. Experience in championing and implementing changes that foster a culture of continuous improvement.
12. Experience in working with teams and stakeholders to define user stories with suitable acceptance criteria, key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated performance metrics and measures.
13. Expertise in communicating ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audience groups using multiple remote and face-to-face methods.
14. Expertise in producing clear written & visual communications and oral presentations about product- or service-related decisions and priorities.
15. Expertise in forming productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels and within a complex structure.
16. Working knowledge of Software Delivery Lifecycle.
17. Basic knowledge of other NHSBT software systems.
18. Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
Qualifications and Training
19. Postgraduate qualification OR Undergraduate degree PLUS significant experience / training in a related field equivalent to postgraduate level.
20. Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
21. ISTQB foundation or equivalent experience.
22. Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel and spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post (with appropriate prior notice).
