Here at Indie16, we are looking for a Full Time Youth Support Worker who is passionate about helping young people transition to independent living. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in guiding 16 to 18 year olds as they develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in semi-independent living
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours a week plus 2 sleep in's however this may vary on the needs of the business and to cover annual leave.
At Indie16, we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable people, As part of our recruitment, selection, and appointment processes we conduct an Enhance DBS checks, to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children and vulnerable people are appointed.
If successfully appointed references will be taken for all roles where you have worked with vulnerable adults and children; and additionally a full work history needs to be included in your CV with explanations for any gaps.
You will be responsible for ensuring all paperwork is completed during your shift, using different software and Microsoft packages. All paperwork is electronic with a simple system in place to help staff complete the necessary forms to a high standard. Paperwork is a key responsibility in this role as it's important to document all support given to young individuals and to monitor any risks that may occur.
Working within this sector has benefits such as staff can dress casually without a uniform. A general day in this role is fun, engaging, positive and steady. No two days are the same, the support needed changes based on the young individual's needs and the services requirements.
This role is flexible as everyone works differently to one another, you can build relationships using your ideas, approaches and skills. There are no set ways in which this job should be done, and it has a very broad perspective on what the role should look like.
Supported living refers to getting the individuals ready for post 18 accommodation and preparing them to be independent. Getting the individuals dentists, opticians, doctors, college, employment etc would all be required in this role. No personal care is given, we are a support system for the individuals rather than carers.
Indie 16 are a unique organisation providing semi independent living for 16-18 year olds with a range of needs and behaviours. All individuals are supported during the day and attend either college or are in employment.
You must have a full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle as you will be required to travel between sites. An NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care is preferably but not essential. Experience in a semi independent or residential environment would be advantageous.
Be an active member of the Service team.
Help cover the work of the team, during absence, vacancies, or when a colleague is under pressure.
Liaise and coordinate with other team members to provide a cohesive, high quality service and ensure that legislation guidelines are followed.
Participate in and contribute to team meetings.
Share with other team member's previous experience, skills and knowledge, which may be relevant to the team in providing its service.
Be supportive, respectful and emphatic to individual, colleagues and visitors.
