Job Description
The role has overall responsibility for new-sales delivery, calibration, repair and service operations across multiple international sites, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery of high-quality radiation monitoring instruments and services.
The post holder will drive operational excellence through lean practices, continuous improvement and robust EHS and regulatory compliance, while ensuring that global calibration and service facilities operate to required standards (including ISO, IEC, UKAS and relevant radiological regulations). Working closely with Managing Director – Monitors, R&D, engineering, commercial and regional service teams, the role underpins Tracerco’s reputation for precise, reliable and innovative radiation monitoring solutions.
Job Requirements
* Degree-level qualification in engineering, physical science or a related technical discipline, or substantial equivalent experience.
* Significant experience leading multi-site operations, service or calibration activities in a technically demanding, regulated environment (e.g. radiation, instrumentation, electronics or related industries).
* Proven track record of managing teams and delivering results against safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.
* Experience of working with ISO/IEC standards, quality management systems and external accreditation/certification processes.
* Experience of driving lean/continuous improvement initiatives and managing complex operational projects.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership of global Monitors operations, including production, calibration, repair, logistics and customer service activities across all bases.
* Define and deliver an operations strategy aligned with Monitors growth plans, ensuring capacity, capability and resilience across the global network.
* Establish and monitor KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, cost and customer satisfaction, taking corrective action where required to ensure smooth throughout and maintain turnarounds to meet customer expectations
* Act as, or oversee, Qualified Person / Responsible Person / Radiation Protection Supervisor roles as appropriate for Monitors calibration and repair facilities,
* ensuring compliance with all applicable radiation protection regulations and company procedures.
* Ensure that all global calibration and test facilities maintain appropriate accreditation's and approvals (e.g. UKAS and other national/international bodies), and that test methods and procedures meet ISO and IEC standards.
* Oversee the sign-off of calibration certificates and hazardous area (HA) repair certifications where local authorizations are not in place, ensuring that results are technically sound and traceable.
* Lead the preparation for, and hosting of, internal and external audits (e.g. Environment Agency, certification bodies, customer audits), ensuring timely close-out of findings.
* Take overall responsibility for radioactive source management, accountancy of all sources under the supervision of the Monitors business unit, and maintenance of all QMS Documentation
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across global sites, using data-driven problem solving to improve quality, throughput, on-time delivery and cost-to-serve.
* Sponsor and deliver operational projects including facility upgrades, new equipment, digital tools, and process changes, developing business cases and tracking benefits.
* Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring that manufacturing, calibration and service processes, documentation and training are in place for launch.
* Provide clear leadership, coaching and direction to site and functional reports, building a high-performing operations team and developing future leaders.
* Ensure appropriate training and competency development for calibration, repair and production technicians so they can operate independently and safely.
* Drive a culture of safety, quality, collaboration and continuous improvement across all Monitors operations locations.
* Work closely with the commercial and product development organization to understand demand, plan capacity and support major bids and contracts with robust operational solutions and pricing inputs.
* Manage portfolio of external partners able to test, calibrate and repair Tracerco devices, organizing product repair and calibration training and regular audits.
* Represent Monitors operations at internal and external meetings, technical forums and industry events, supporting Tracerco’s reputation as a trusted technical partner.
