Job Opportunity: SEMH Temporary Teaching Assistant
Location: Bexley
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Temporary
We are currently recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to join the team at a school supporting children aged 5-19 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for skilled and resilient professionals who are passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives. Successful candidates who integrate well into the team may be considered for a permanent position.
About the Role:
 1. Support students with SEMH needs in both group and 1:1 settings
 2. Implement personalised behaviour strategies
 3. Foster positive relationships with students and staff
 4. Maintain a calm, consistent, and proactive approach
 5. Collaborate closely with teaching staff and the wider team
Essential Criteria:
 6. Proven experience working with children or young people – ideally in SEMH or similar settings
 7. Confident, adaptable, and able to hit the ground running
 8. Strong communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
 9. Ability to build trust quickly with students and staff
 10. Resilience in challenging environments; calm under pressure
 11. Excellent behaviour management skills
 12. Reliable, proactive, and a team player
