Your Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be a steady, trusted presence in a young person’s life helping them develop confidence, skills and independence. No two days are the same, but each one makes a difference.
Your role will include:
* Daily Care: Supporting children with routines like getting ready for school, mealtimes, and winding down at night.
* Emotional Support: Listening, talking, and helping children manage big feelings with patience and empathy.
* Education & Activities: Encouraging hobbies, new experiences and learning that build confidence and joy.
* Health & Wellbeing: Promoting healthy routines, attending appointments, and supporting medication when needed.
* Positive Behaviour Support: Helping children feel understood and supported, using de-escalation when required.
* Teamwork: Working closely with your colleagues to plan care, reflect together, and create consistent, nurturing homes.
* Recording: Keeping accurate notes on wellbeing, progress and achievements.
* Sleep-In Shifts: Offering calm, reassuring overnight support so children feel safe at all times.
This is deeply rewarding work challenging at times, but full of moments that remind you why you do it. You’ll help children believe in themselves and start to trust the adults around them again.
