Job Details

The Children & Family Service has completed a service redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife.

An Early Help and Support Team is being established to work with children and families affected by disability. This team will deliver a range of earlier intervention services to children in need to address wellbeing needs, concerns, and emerging risks. The support will consist of a family-based assessment, direct 1-1 support, family decision making and a range of group work opportunities. The core components of the EH&S Teams are outlined below:

1. Initial assessment underpinned by a whole family approach

2. Development of a family plan which is co-produced with families as part of a relational approach

3. 1-1 support in family homes underpinned by a family decision making model

4. Development and Delivery of group work (. Mellow Ability)

5. Collaborative work with Primary & Secondary Schools through formal partnership meetings. (. thematic group work, partnership training etc)

6. Collaborative work with Health, CLD, and Third sector organisations.

7. Development of community initiatives based on thematic priorities

Key tasks include:

8. Contributing to the development and implementation of processes, systems and practice standards with the aim of developing effective partnerships and building resilience and capacity for children; young people and families.

9. Supervising and coaching family workers to ensure policies and procedures are applied, promoting high standards of practice within the team to support collaborative working.

10. Coordinating and chairing meetings and formulating plans ensuring services are having a positive impact against agreed outcomes

11. Developing effective partnership and collaborative working with colleagues in Education; Health; Third Sector; Community Development to improve outcomes for children; young people and families.

12. The post involves some lone working, working flexibly

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements

Educated to SCQF level 9 which includes a degree or equivalent in Education; Social Work; Community Education

The individual should have:

13. Significant experience and skills in delivering children’s services

14. Knowledge of practice models; assessment frameworks and standards

15. Experience in Child Protection

16. Experience of working with vulnerable young people and adults

17. Supervisory skills

18. Motivational skills

19. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
