Job Details
The Children & Family Service has completed a service redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. An Early Help and Support Team is being established to work with children and families affected by disability. This team will deliver a range of earlier intervention services to children in need to address wellbeing needs, concerns, and emerging risks. The support will consist of a family-based assessment, direct 1-1 support, family decision making and a range of group work opportunities. The core components of the EH&S Teams are outlined below:
1. Initial assessment underpinned by a whole family approach
2. Development of a family plan which is co-produced with families as part of a relational approach
3. 1-1 support in family homes underpinned by a family decision making model
4. Delivery of group work (. Mellow Ability)
5. Collaborative work with Primary & Secondary Schools through formal partnership meetings. (. thematic group work, partnership training etc)
6. Collaborative work with Health, CLD, and Third sector organisations.
7. Development of community initiatives based on thematic priorities
The Person
Key tasks include:
8. Undertaking assessment and practical support/advice to families to address needs, concerns, and emerging risk
9. Working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies to promote wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes
10. Contributing to the delivery of a range of group work opportunities
11. Contribute to and implement care plans, support plans, and risk assessments.
12. Work alongside parents and care givers to support positive behaviour strategies to respond to emotional or behavioural needs.
13. Communicate effectively with children using appropriate methods ( visual aids, PECS)
14. Work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals
The post involves some lone working, working flexibly.
Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements
Educated to SCQF Level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent in one of the relevant fields of childcare, social care, health or community development.
The individual should have:
15. Experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families and the ability to build effective relationships
16. Experience of working with families affected by disability.
17. Knowledge of assessment frameworks
18. Experience of delivering interventions which demonstrate impact and improve outcomes
19. Good communication and organisational skills including IT and report writing skills
20. Partnership working skills
21. Ability to travel within Fife
22. Ability to work as part of a Team and on own as required
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
