Cosgrove Brown Financial Planning Ltd are expanding and looking for an experienced Self‑Employed Mortgage & Protection Adviser to join our established Chartered financial planning firm in Swansea.

🔎 The Role
Operating under our Chartered status, you will deliver high‑quality, compliant mortgage and protection advice while managing and growing your own client bank in line with FCA expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert, fully researched, and well‑documented mortgage advice
* Clearly outline adviser status, services, fees, and our Chartered position
* Conduct full fact‑finds, including detailed affordability assessments
* Advise on protection solutions including life, critical illness & income protection
* Manage the full mortgage journey from initial consultation to completion
* Develop new business through self‑sourced, introducer, and firm‑provided leads
* Build strong relationships with lenders, solicitors, agents, and introducers
* Maintain accurate and compliant records in line with FCA requirements
* Meet agreed revenue, quality, and compliance standards
* Work collaboratively with compliance audits, file checks, and reviews
* Self‑employed with full flexibility
* Office‑based or hybrid options available
* Full management of your own diary, clients, and workload
Essential Qualifications & Status
* CeMAP (Level 3) or FCA‑approved equivalent
* Eligible to act as a self‑employed adviser / Appointed Representative
* Able to pass credit and criminal records checks
* Advanced mortgage or financial planning qualifications
* Working towards or holding Chartered status
Experience
* Strong experience as a regulated mortgage adviser
* Comfortable handling complex cases (self‑employed, HNW clients, landlords)
* Demonstrable ability to build and retain a client base
* Excellent technical mortgage knowledge
* Strong organisational skills and ability to self‑manage
* Commercially minded with strong business‑development skills
