Join us as an Assistant Air Quality Consultant with the Air Quality and Emissions team, contributing to some of the largest and innovative air quality and carbon projects in the UK. You will join the Air Quality and Emissions team, which is part of an award winning, multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy practice. As part of a collaborative team you would be providing air quality consultancy and emissions management services for a wide range of land development, transport and energy clients, which include local and national governments, multi-national industrial clients, funding agencies and lenders, property developers, infrastructure contractors and regulatory authorities. The position is permanent with the opportunity for hybrid home/office working with a base in one of our UK offices: Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Epsom or London. Your Purpose Working on desk and field-based air quality, dust, odour and emissions impact assessments for planning applications, emissions calculations and dispersion modelling, action planning and mitigation for air and carbon emissions, specialist services for environmental permit applications and Environmental Impact Assessments, and technical advisory services including developing guidance and tools. Designing and undertaking air quality surveys, including understanding the importance of health and safety risk management when working supervised and unsupervised on site. Producing air quality, dust, odour and carbon emission assessments for a range of infrastructure projects, including analysing and interpreting data for inclusion in these assessments. Identifying the need for solutions for mitigating effects of air pollution and carbon emissions. Preparing and delivering air quality reports and figures. Providing input to bids and business development activities to secure work for the team. Working as part of a wider team of professionals across the Environment business, to provide an integrated service to clients. Managing own workload and that of others within defined budgets and programmes. Continuous professional development and application of technical and digital skills. What You Can Bring Hold a higher degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject. Knowledge and/or expertise in environmental science, meteorology, atmospheric science, air quality management, dispersion modelling or emissions modelling. Knowledge of a range of air quality and carbon issues including relevant legislation, policies and standards applicable in the UK. Pride yourself on delivering technically excellent work, with high reporting standards and embracing innovative approaches to assessment. Proficient in standard IT applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge and/or experience of analysing and interpreting data using spreadsheets and GIS. Experience of using statistical analysis packages and/or computer programming language and/or other digital tools would be an advantage. A willingness to travel for surveys. It would be desirable to hold a full valid UK driving licence, to give greater flexibility for travel options. It would be desirable, but not essential to have prior experience of working in air quality consultancy. It would be desirable, but not essential to have knowledge of interrelationships with other environmental specialisms.
