About the role:
This is a new role to support within the EHS department ensuring compliance in line with legislation and business requirements. Support and promote Health & Safety on site alongside the relevant department heads and train the trainers ensuring all requirements from site/customers/auditing bodies are met. Reporting to the EHS Manager with the responsibility for EHS support with some training coordination on site as required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Training of current and new colleagues is conducted, and they receive the appropriate training to effectively conduct their role.
· Maintaining site training records
· The site is compliant against any legal or best practise legislation.
· Provide support to the EHS Manager as required.
· The business is committed to the health, safety, and wellbeing of all colleagues. In line with this, we would expect the individual to take responsibility for their own health, safety, and wellbeing and to act in a manner which protects and safeguards the health, safety, and wellbeing of others.
· To support in developing and reviewing EHS Risk Assessments for all tasks
· To ensure that EHS Risk Assessments are communicated to all relevant colleagues.
· To develop and review Safe Systems of Work and Environmental Operational Procedures for all tasks on site and ensure all colleagues are trained on tasks which they undertake.
· To consult with the company's Occupational Health Provider to organise health surveillance in line with business and legal requirements
· To regularly update & maintain site's Databases in relation- Accident database, Risk Assessment database, Environmental KPI Database, H&S Inspection database, Training Matrix
· To update site's EHS Notice board regularly.
· To undertake regular Fire safety inspections to include but not limited to inspection of fire extinguishers, fire exit routes, all external fire exits, fire compartmentation.
· To actively participate in the EHS committee, encouraging current members to take an active role and trying to recruit new members to support the overall EHS business plan
Training:
· To support training to all staff on Environmental, Basic Health & Safety course and Manual Handling Course when they join the business and on a three yearly basis.
· To become train the trainer qualified (if not already) and delivering additional support to the EHS manager or wider SLT team.
· To review the current training matrix ensuring all staff are trained on equipment/machines they use.
· Utilise the Training Matrix to identify gaps in training to drive the learning and development strategy forward for site
· Undertake the relevant training with the relevant colleagues as identified in the Training Matrix and/or skill gaps.
· To undertake or arrange for appropriate training to ensure that all personnel are competent to perform their relevant duties.
· To conduct any other tasks specifically requested by the site EHS Manager and which fall within the wider interpretation of the job title.
Experience and Qualification:
· 3 years Environmental Health & Safety exposure, ideally food related.
· HACCP Level 3
· IOSH & COSHH
· IEMA accredited.
· Food Safety Level 2 minimum
