Contract: Freelance / Self Employment
Hours: Flexible and variable depending on the monthly demands and the RTS NI events programme. A minimum commitment of two days per month, scaling up to full‑time equivalent days in the lead‑up to the RTS NI Programme Awards in November. The role is expected to be most active for approximately 8–12 months of the year.
Working Pattern: Flexible, including evenings.
Role Overview
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, producing and delivering RTS NI’s programme of industry events, awards and talent initiatives. The role supports the Royal Television Society’s charitable mission to develop, support and celebrate excellence across the television and creative industries in Northern Ireland.
The post combines event production, stakeholder liaison, financial oversight and centre coordination. It oversees RTS Futures activity, supports the Student and Programme Awards, and ensures the smooth operational running of the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
Events Programme
* Plan and deliver RTS NI’s annual programme of in‑person and digital events
* Develop formats, panel concepts and audience experiences
* Manage venues, suppliers, technical arrangements and logistics
* Prepare event copy and listings
* Set up ticketing and manage registrations using RTS systems
* Manage event budgets with the Finance Officer, including cost control and reporting
* Act as on‑site event lead where required
RTS Futures
* Work with the Futures Chair and committee to deliver a strong Futures programme
* Develop new initiatives, networking formats and special projects
* Review attendance and feedback to improve delivery
* Manage delivery of the RTS NI Programme Awards with the Awards Chair and sub‑committee
* Liaise with venues, sponsors and suppliers
* Oversee entries, ticketing and guest communications
* Manage seating plans, VIP receptions and hospitality
* Coordinate jury meetings in line with RTS judging protocol
* Prepare running orders and event documentation
* Act as operational contact on the night
Student Awards
* Coordinate outreach to colleges and universities
* Manage entries and jury processes
* Liaise with RTS Head Office on submissions and reporting
* Manage ceremony logistics and nominee communications
Social Media and Communications
* Manage and maintain RTS NI social media platforms in line with RTS brand guidelines
* Plan, schedule and publish promotional content for events, awards and initiatives
* Provide live or post‑event coverage across social channels where appropriate
* Work with RTS Head Office Digital team to ensure consistency and compliance
* Support membership growth and audience engagement through social platforms
* Ensure social content aligns with the RTS NI events calendar
Centre Operations and Stakeholder Engagement
* Attend committee meetings and AGM
* Liaise with RTS Head Office to ensure governance and compliance
* Monitor the Centre inbox and respond as required
* Support membership activity and partnerships
* Maintain relationships with patrons, trustees and stakeholders
* Collate reporting information for the Chair
About You
* Experience delivering live events end to end
* Strong budgeting and financial management skills
* Excellent organisational and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Ability to work independently and under pressure
* High attention to detail
* Confident IT skills and ability to learn new systems
* Interest in television and the creative industries
* Experience within the television or media sector
* Knowledge of the Northern Ireland screen industry
