Overview
This post within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Public Health Directorate offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership and management for the Public Health Intelligence function, which includes teams of researchers, analysts and epidemiologists.
The post holder is the public health lead, coordinating delivery of the Public Health Intelligence portfolio across NHSGGC and working with multi‑disciplinary public health teams, academic staff, HSCPs, local authorities and voluntary sector partners to translate national and local policy into coherent local programmes of activities and effective delivery and evaluation.
Responsibilities
Provide public health intelligence leadership and influence through professional networking at Health Board, regional and national level.
Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a strategic Public Health Intelligence plan and delivery framework to inform public, professional and political opinion on improving health and reducing inequalities and to achieve corporate outcomes.
Maximise opportunities for cross‑functional working and shared approaches across the Directorate and the wider organisation.
Lead the development and delivery of complex and multifaceted programmes of public health intelligence work designed to inform and influence action to reduce health inequalities and improve population health, contributing to the evidence base for public health informing policy and practice across NHSGGC.
Develop surveys, data systems and analyses, and collate, analyse and interpret complex data, evidence and other public health‑related information from multiple sources.
Prioritise, allocate and manage budgets and staff to ensure successful completion of programme activities within available resources and timelines.
Ensure clear objectives and performance management arrangements are in place, and apply continuous improvement, planning and excellent people management.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have experience of leading and motivating teams alongside technical expertise in public health intelligence, data analysis and evidence synthesis.
