In the last 20 years, WBL Services Ltd has provided the Army Apprenticeship programme (AAP) with a range of high level, high quality educational consultancy services to support the delivery of apprenticeships to over 13000 apprentices. The AAP provides apprenticeships across 14 different sectors between Levels 2 to 4, as well as degree apprenticeships, as part of its educational portfolio. We provide strategic and operational educational coaching and mentoring to senior managers of the AAP in all aspects of curriculum planning and delivery, quality assurance and improvement strategies.

We are seeking a highly experienced educational leader who has expertise in all areas of Apprenticeship education including FE and Skills, project management, external Inspection, learner data systems and interpretation and quality improvement frameworks.
We expect the individual to be teacher/assessor qualified and to hold HE qualifications at least to degree level - although a minimum of 5 years previous working experience at senior management in an educational environment will be considered. Significant levels of experience of working with external educational stakeholders at all levels is vital.
The ability to communicate at all levels is critical to the role as it will involve providing professional expertise and guidance to military and civilian staff (and apprentices) across a wide range of staffing roles and levels. An understanding of the military is desirable although not essential.
The Quality Mentor (QM) role involves working with a highly qualified, experienced and cohesive team of colleagues to provide senior military managers with educational expertise, coaching, mentoring and guidance to support the management of a wide range of DfE and Army funded apprenticeship provision ranging from Level 2 to Level 4. The Quality Mentor (QM) is expected to provide expertise and support to senior military managers in the procurement systems for subcontracted provision. This includes strategic and operational oversight of sub-contractor management and apprenticeship delivery.
The QM plays a vital role in supporting and mentoring senior military staff prior to, during and post FE and Skills Ofsted inspections (and other external QA activity) and experience in this specific arena is essential.
The role is permanent, part time (0.8 FTE) over a 4-day week. The post is based in the WBL Services office in Netheravon, Wiltshire but with home working permitted subject to approval. The role therefore requires the individual to be resident no more than 2 hours driving distance to the WBL Services office in Netheravon.
Main Responsibilities
· To provide subject matter expertise (SME) apprenticeship advice and guidance to a range of senior military managers on apprenticeship educational matters and contextualise AAP policy
· To provide training and ongoing CPD to military staff in all aspects of education and apprenticeship developments in accordance with external government policy and AAP policies and procedures and contract compliance
· To provide expertise in curriculum development, design and planning to support the Apprenticeship Leads in developing appropriate trade related curriculum
· To project manage and report on any specific improvement activities to drive up the performance of the apprenticeship programmes
· To routinely interpret monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc learner data to judge performance and identify areas for investigation and improvement
· To provide risk and performance commentaries for the apprenticeship programmes
· To provide transitional management support as continuity between military apprenticeship postings
· To participate (and in some cases lead) on AAP Quality Framework activities including internal Deep Dives/Quality Audits in line with Ofsted EIF criteria
· To provide advice, guidance and mentoring to enable Apprenticeship leads to judge and improve the quality of delivery across the programmes
· To provide coaching and mentoring to Army leaders in the planning, conduct and post inspection action planning for all Ofsted Inspections (and any other ternal and internal QA Inspections)
