About the role This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered and additional DCC PA may be offered through negotiation depending on service need. Duties will be primarily based on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites with expectations of potential on-site presence at Dewsbury, Pontefract and/or our Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield. Main duties A brief description of the post: The post is primarily to complement the existing neuroradiology team comprising 4 substantive and 1 locum consultant radiologists. The successful candidate will support and enable the team to deliver a sustainable excellent service throughout the year for acute and elective neurology and stroke pathways in the context of increasing demands and service delivery expectations. They will primarily report specialist neuroimaging MRI and CT, as well as support the weekly neurology/stroke multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. The post is additional to the existing team of 41 consultant radiologists who provide a wide range of subspecialist and general radiological services. General radiology diagnostic skills are essential and the post holder is expected to contribute to the departmental general radiology workload, including acute CT. It is likely that the post holder will also be expected to support the weekly Haematology Cancer MDT on a 1 in 3 basis for a period. Additional subspecialty interests can be accommodated depending on service need. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the general diagnostic on call rota, at a current frequency of 1 in 20 evenings and 1 in 10 weekends; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working. Acute CT is outsourced overnight and there is a separate non-vascular intervention rota. Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) will be available in accordance with the Trust Framework, with a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service; this may include formal teaching or leadership roles. The provisional timetable shown below represents the anticipated PA commitments, but may be adjusted by negotiation to suit the appointee and fulfil service requirements. Networked working arrangements will be considered to provide specialist clinical work not performed at MYNHST through agreement with local NHS trusts. Teleradiology is in use and all Consultants are provided with access to a notebook PC or home workstation with secure VPN Broadband connection to enable connection to the Trust network for remote reporting. Office Space is provided across the trust in a flexible arrangement depending on site presence within an agreed job plan. Pooled secretarial support will be provided. Essential person specification requirements To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria: Full GMC Registration with licence to practise Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Radiology or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent) Medical Degree from recognised medical school FRCR or equivalent Eligibility to work in the UK Subspecialty training and experience in neuroimaging post FRCR 2B Experience in general cross-sectional reporting Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving. Good time management. Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services.
