Mountain Healthcare Ltd provides services commissioned by the Police and NHS Health & Justice Commissioners to deliver effective forensic healthcare. The SMA will work with Associate Medical Directors, Clinical Directors for Custody / SARC, Directors of Nursing, Associate Head of Healthcare, safeguarding team, SARC Managers, and pediatric teams to deliver high-quality services nationally and develop expertise in complex case management.
This role is primarily home-based and does not involve face-to-face clinical duties. However, it may be combined with roles that include face-to-face clinical duties within this or other external organizations.

GMC Registration is required. Note that we cannot support International Visas. Police vetting requires 3 years residence in the UK.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* The SMA will act as a clinical mentor for other doctors in the company at various experience levels.
* The SMA may deputize for the Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, or Clinical Directors as appropriate when unavailable.
* The post holder will acquire the knowledge required for this role and liaise with outside agencies (including local councils, police, health providers, social care departments).
* The post holder will complete level 3 safeguarding training and maintain up-to-date incident investigation, desktop reviews, and contribute to SARC medical reports.
* The post holder will work as part of the wider safeguarding team and lead on developing medical pathways.
* Perform forensic examinations and obtain forensic exhibits.
* Develop forensic strategies following FFLM guidelines.
* Work in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
* Serve as the point of contact for Police and Social Services regarding referral pathways.
* Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
* Support continuous quality improvement of the service.
* Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
* Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures.
Travel for training days is required. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed according to the Expenses Policy.
* Medical Degree & Completion of Foundation Training
* UK full residency for at least 3 years for police background checks
* Licentiate, Membership, or Fellowship of the FFLM
* Minimum 5 years’ experience at L/M/F FFLM level within Sexual Offence Medicine
* Experience chairing SOM Peer review sessions
* Experience in writing/reviewing SARC Child protection reports & mentoring SOM trainees
* Experience in academic research in SOM
* Experience as a Court-appointed expert in SOM
* Experience chairing safeguarding supervision or similar clinical groups.
