An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Senior Buyer, Raw Materials to join the Innospec Purchasing Department based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead procurement activities for a portfolio of globally sourced Raw Materials and Products for Resale (PFR).
* Develop an excellent understanding of the markets for the raw materials and PFR within your responsibility.
* Monitor market trends and supply risks, proactively identifying opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
* Risk identification, management, and reduction.
* Sourcing and approval of alternative raw materials and/or suppliers to reduce risk and/or cost.
* Negotiation of pricing/tendering and awarding business.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and monitor and manage supplier performance.
* Work with Sales Team to provide support for new tenders and current business opportunities.
* Participate and contribute to New Product Development (NPD) projects.
* Monitor forecast demand of all materials in your portfolio on a quarterly basis, and adjust to new information in a timely manner, to ensure no disruption to production schedules and business needs.
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.
* SAP updates/maintenance, including supplier set up, and price updates.
* Ensure procurement decisions align with Innospec’s sustainability goals, promoting ethical, environmental, and socially responsible practices across the supply chain.
* Support Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Director as required.
Candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Degree level education preferred, preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, but others considered.
* Minimum of 2 years in a similar role within a manufacturing environment - ideally within the chemical industry. Alternatively, candidates with 5+ years of purchasing experience who are looking to take the next step in their career.
* Independent thinker who will take full responsibility and ownership of their portfolio.
* Proven track record for delivering results.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure and multitask.
* Good analytical and reporting skills.
* Flexible, pragmatic, independent, and deadline focused.
* An experienced and effective negotiator.
* Be willing to travel to other Innospec sites, as well as key raw material supplier sites as required.
* High level IT skills.
* Knowledge of SAP S4 is desirable.
* MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
