Undertakes routine daily activities and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
Implements new and enhanced network technology aligned with customers’ strategic goals for enterprise and remote site connectivity.
Maintains standards for global network infrastructure, including wireless, LAN, and SD-WAN networks and connectivity.
Manages the installation, testing, and setup of new network hardware, both physical and virtual (firewalls, routers, switching, monitoring), hardware and software.
Executes engineering efforts to ensure currency and supportability of networking technology.
Participates in technology lifecycle planning, developing technology roadmaps and Network Health Assessments.
Provides documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to support the deployment of new solutions.
Supports clients with data protection and cloud capabilities.
Drives the implementation of core and cloud infrastructure security to manage risks.
Supports problem escalations from the global network support organization.
Contributes to customer, operational, project, or service activities within the Network Engineering team and related teams.
Mentors other engineering professionals, enhancing team skills as a technical resource.
Continuously develops and shares knowledge on emerging trends in Network Engineering.
Skills
Experience with designing, implementing, and onboarding network applications on VMware Telco Cloud Platform.
Deep expertise in infrastructure as code, virtualization, and problem-solving, with effective cross-team collaboration.
Solid understanding of VMware infrastructure (VCF), networking (NSX), and orchestration (VCD).
Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using VMware components (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, VCD, Arial).
Automate cloud provisioning and configuration with tools like Ansible, Terraform, vRO.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native applications.
3+ years of hands-on VMware deployment and operations experience.
Strong Linux systems administration skills (Ubuntu, OL, RHEL).
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, TKG). Desirable.
Experience with VMware APIs and scripting (Python, Bash). Desirable.
