Service Designer – UK Government Programme
Location: Newcastle / Manchester (Up to 3 days per week onsite)
Contract Length: 29th June 2026 – 26th February 2027
Day Rate: £515 per day (Inside IR35)
Start Date: 29th June 2026
Overview
We are supporting a major UK Government programme seeking an experienced Service Designer (SFIA Level 5) to join a data transformation initiative focused on Fraud & Error and Entity Resolution. This role will play a key part in shaping services within a complex, ambiguous, and highly sensitive government environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact public sector programme running through to early 2027.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a Service Designer within UK Government environments
* Comfortable operating in ambiguous, non-standard delivery environments
* Able to navigate complex and sometimes sensitive stakeholder landscapes
* Proactive in building relationships with teams not yet bought into the programme
* Experience designing internally focused services where end users may not yet be clearly defined
* Comfortable working outside of a strict GDS phase-by-phase delivery process
* SC clearance – active or eligible
What You'll Be Doing
* Designing and shaping services within a complex data transformation programme
* Building connections and buy-in across a range of internal stakeholder teams
* Navigating ambiguity to define service direction and user needs
* Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary delivery team
* Contributing to the evolution of internal services across a range of applications
Desirable Experience
* Background in fraud, error, or data transformation programmes
* Exposure to entity resolution or similar complex data initiatives
* Experience working within large government departments

* SC clearance active or eligibility required
* Candidates must be based in the UK and able to commit to up to 3 days per week onsite in Newcastle or Manchester
