Sales Estimator – Alfreton, Derbyshire – Specialist Steel Fabrication Contractor

Service Care Solutions are working with a well-established, family-owned steel fabrication contractor based in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
With a strong reputation in the fabrication and installation of industrial chimneys, flue systems, and bespoke secondary and modular steelwork, they are now looking to recruit a proactive and detail-focused Sales Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in pricing and securing complex and technically interesting projects across the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities As Sales Estimator, you will be at the forefront of new business activity, translating technical drawings and specifications into commercially viable and accurately priced proposals.
Your duties will include:
Reviewing tender enquiries and detailed project specifications
Taking off steelwork quantities from engineering drawings
Preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and formal quotations
Liaising with clients to clarify technical and commercial requirements
Collaborating with production and contracts teams to confirm pricing, materials, and lead times
Maintaining accurate records of submitted bids and tracking outcomes
Supporting follow-up discussions to convert quotations into secured contractsYou will work closely with senior leadership, operations, and clients to ensure bids are competitive, realistic, and aligned with the company’s reputation for quality and reliability.
Requirements We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience within structural or industrial steelwork environments, ideally with exposure to chimneys, flues, or modular steelwork.
Essential / desirable criteria:
Previous experience in an estimating role (structural or modular steelwork preferred)
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and extract quantities accurately
Strong commercial awareness, confident discussing costs, margins, and client expectations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organised, able to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
References required
Experience using StruMIS (advantageous but not essential)What’s on Offer
