Overview
Be among the first applicants for a PhD-level Biology research role focused on testing the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). You will create Biology problems, analyze model responses, and identify gaps in logic or understanding to measure how well models handle abstract thinking and structured problem-solving.
Responsibilities
* Create Biology problems, review how the AI solves them, and share insights on how well it understands complex reasoning and logical steps.
* Evaluate the logic behind a researcher’s claims about immune signaling (e.g., IL-2 promotes T cell proliferation, IFN-γ activates macrophages, IL-10 described as pro-inflammatory) and determine which interpretations reflect accurate biological functions.
* Review a student’s proposed strategy to study plant stress genes, including CRISPR knockouts, qPCR for expression analysis, and phenotypic observation under drought; assess the reasoning behind each method and suggest refinements.
* Provide clear, constructive feedback with examples; work independently with stable computer and internet access.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
* Strong research and analytical skills.
* Able to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
* Strong written communication, especially in remote settings.
* Comfortable working independently.
* Stable computer and internet access.
Time Commitment & Contract Details
* Commitments Required: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST. (Options: 20 hrs/week, 30 hrs/week, or 40 hrs/week)
* Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer (no medical/paid leave).
* Duration of contract: 1 month; expected start date next week.
* Selection Process: Task-based assessment for shortlisted candidates, followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
