Clinical Director or Head Vet – tailor your future!
Southport Vets, a purpose‑built site furnished with everything a clinician could want, is looking for its next veterinary leader. Building teams, developing our services and delighting our clients through exceptional care, this role is for anyone who wants to take a site full of potential and build it into the best practice in Lancashire.
Why Join Us?
* Opportunities for Growth: Start as sole charge with the support of registered veterinary nurses, a patient care assistant, a veterinary receptionist and a practice manager. Grow the business and develop your leadership skills – supported by clinical, learning and finance teams.
* Client Experience Excellence: Lead the growth and delivery of client service using our PMS and client care teams to continually improve the client journey.
* Set the Standards: Deliver contextualised care, set QI controls and standards, and set the bar for patient and client care.
* Own the Financials: Run the practice as a business. Work with peers across the region to establish sustainable practices, ensuring the site remains a community bedrock.
* Supportive Environment: We prioritise psychological safety and a learning culture through structured feedback, coaching sessions and regular team meetings. Your growth and development are as important as the care we provide.
* Southport Vets benefits from the support of Robert Jones Vets, a practice in Blackpool. The two sites share a senior practice director, practice manager and vets, providing ample support.
What we are looking for?
* Must be hands‑on with clients and patients – working sole charge, maintaining a connection to the local community is essential.
* Must have an appetite to learn – we invest in our PMS, multi‑channel client experience tools, and technology. A keenness to develop is key.
* Open‑minded about leadership – from our ICARE values to feedback culture, you must be willing to invest energy in your people, whether or not you manage the commercials.
Benefits
* RCVS & VDS fees paid in full.
* Generous CPD allowance, BSAVA library access, 450+ courses and fully funded postgraduate qualifications (CertAVP, PgCert) with tuition, exams and study leave covered.
* Up to 33 days holiday (option to buy/sell).
* Relocation package and visa fees covered where applicable.
* Access to Vet Oracle telemedicine specialists, Advanced Clinical Services Network and regional clinical leads for case support and mentoring.
* Health cash plan, employee assistance programme, wellbeing champions and enhanced family leave policies.
* Staff pet care discounts – 50 % off services, MiPet food and medications.
