Reporting to the NPD Manager, this role will be a key part of the NPD Department within a leading food manufacturer.
Key responsibilities include the successful development of cost-effective new products aligned with customer requirements, process capabilities, and legal standards, as well as the efficient transfer of products from concept to launch.
The role requires flexibility and involves kitchen sample preparation, recipe concept development, factory trial organization and management, and close collaboration with internal departments.
Key Role Information:
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Standards in the workplace.
* Adhere to all company procedures and practices.
* Maintain company hygiene policies at all times.
* Manage process trials and plan for successful outcomes on the first attempt.
* Organize product tasting sessions of NPD samples before dispatch to customers.
* Conduct benchmarking sessions.
* Participate in additional projects such as ingredient replacement, cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and packaging reviews.
* Prepare basic recipes and perform costing.
* Develop products and recipes according to customer briefs, logging all development activities in the Technical NPD Database for traceability.
* Sourcing new ingredients and suppliers proactively to drive improvements.
* Support the Technical Department by preparing provisional specification documents and sourcing raw material specifications.
* Communicate effectively with customers both in writing and verbally.
* Maintain product quality and integrity by producing high-quality samples, keeping accurate records, and maintaining a reference library.
Knowledge & Specific Job Skills:
Degree or HND in a food-related discipline or previous NPD experience preferred.
Understanding of food processing fundamentals.
Knowledge of microbiology, legal codes of practice, and HACCP standards.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to drive change, and identify improvement opportunities.
Innovative, with a logical, systematic, and lateral approach to problem-solving.
