Senior Civil Engineer role at Progressive. This design-focused position supports the design and delivery of National Grid substation projects. Requires deep technical expertise in substation civil engineering and knowledge of National Grid standards and processes.
Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver civil design packages for National Grid substation projects.
* Ensure designs comply with National Grid specifications, CDM regulations, and relevant British Standards.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors.
* Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and documentation.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
* Attend site visits and client meetings as required.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience working on National Grid substation projects.
* Strong background in civil and structural design, particularly for substations.
* Proficient in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).
* In-depth knowledge of National Grid technical standards and procedures.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).
* Experience with hybrid working and remote collaboration tools.
* Located within commuting distance of Stafford (preferred but not essential).
Working Arrangement
* Hybrid working preferred from the Stafford office.
* Remote candidates with strong National Grid experience will also be considered.
