Senior Physiotherapist – Cardiorespiratory Pod (Rotational) – Band 6, Permanent, Full‑time.
Job Summary
Working across hospital sites and community within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB), this role requires a dynamic, forward‑thinking clinician to rotate through multiple settings. The successful applicant will provide high‑quality physiotherapy care, support service development, and act as a mentor for junior staff.
Responsibilities
* Provide physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation in rotating placements including Grange University Hospital (critical care, surgery, cardiology, general medicine, chronic respiratory), respiratory outpatients, domiciliary neuro‑muscular respiratory, and community cardiorespiratory rehabilitation services.
* Deliver patient‑centred care in accordance with national guidelines and the ABUHB clinical governance framework.
* Participate in and contribute to in‑service training, clinical audit, research projects, and clinical supervision of students and staff.
* Assist in the education and mentoring of junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy students and support their progression through the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
* Comply with the physiotherapy emergency on‑call rota and be available for on‑call duties.
* Advocate for service improvement, participate in change initiatives and contribute to best practice dissemination.
Person Specification
Essential
* Diploma/degree in physiotherapy and registration with the Health Professions Council.
* Broad clinical experience through a comprehensive Band 5 rotation and a rotation in the cardiorespiratory speciality.
* Experience delivering and participating in in‑service training programmes and on‑call/ weekend duties.
* Strong communication, team working, and leadership skills.
* Evidence of initiative, time management, and critical appraisal.
* Commitment to continuing professional development to meet HPC requirements.
* Physical ability to perform manual handling and adapt to varying work routines.
* Willingness and availability for on‑call duties and travel between sites.
Desirable
* Experience working unsupervised and previous Band 6 position.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
* Commitment to research and teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate level.
* IT literacy.
* MCSP certification.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
The role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
