An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Controls Analyst to join our highly respected Risk, Assurance and Remediation team with our Life Division. This role will have a blended approach between working from home and our office in Stirling (2-3 days) and will support the Risk Manager to provide assurance/ risk oversight for our material outsourcers.

Key Responsibilities for this role may include:

1. To support the Life business area in applying the requirements of M&G’s Operational Risk Framework.
2. To maintain the business area risk profile and keeping supporting documentation and systems up to date e.g. Risk registers, controls descriptions, risk acceptances, risk assessments etc.
3. Assess and monitor control environment metrics for the business area.
4. Participate in assurance reviews, in order to provide senior management with ongoing comprehensive end-to-end assurance over key business processes.
5. Participate in a executing a risk-based control testing program, in order to provide senior management with ongoing comprehensive end-to-end assurance over key business processes.
6. Work alongside colleagues to feedback results of QA oversight, assurance reviews and/or the KCA programme and to ensure recommendations are incorporated into BAU.
7. To operate pro-active risk management, including root cause analysis into issues and control failings and contribute to the design of action plans to ensure they mitigate and resolve identified issues.
8. To monitor the remediation of issues, and events discussing outcomes with relevant stakeholders and ensuring MetricStream remains updated in line with operational risk standards.
9. To operate and drive a culture of risk and controls awareness within the local business area, providing active communications, guidance and training to the business area when required.
10. Support the senior analyst(s) and team manager(s) in providing first line risk activities and oversight.
11. Conduct quality assurance oversight and process adherence reviews for key customer processes.
12. Identify problem areas, trends, and risks associated with processes
13. Maintain proactive communication with senior management including regular updates on engagement progress and identified or potential issues.
14. Work flexibly and building collaboratively constructive and supportive working relationships with teams across M&G plc and suppliers.
15. Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory and business issues impacting self-certification.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

16. Experience of risk management, assurance and supplier oversight in regulated financial services organisations - essential
17. Experience of applying quality assurance and quality control methodologies within a Financial Services operational environment
18. Experience of controls assurance and testing
19. Experience of implementing risk, assurance and/or oversight methodologies
20. Pro-active approach to problem solving, understanding root causes, and driving continuous improvement
21. Strong analytical mind and an eye for detail
22. Strong communication and influencing skills
23. Working knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
24. Working knowledge of M&G products, systems, services and distribution methods (Preferred)
25. Working knowledge of BaNCS system (Preferred)
