Assistant Psychologist

We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist with an interest in Clinical Neuropsychology and Neuro-rehabilitation. The post offers the opportunity to work with patients with a wide range of neurological conditions and would suit individuals with the ability to have a strong and communicative presence within interdisciplinary teams. At present the Clinical Neuropsychologists within the service provide input across Doncaster's Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team, Community Neuro Rehabilitation across Rotherham & Doncaster, and our inpatient ward based in Doncaster.
The post offers an exciting and varied opportunity to gain and develop skills in neuropsychological assessment and neuro rehabilitation in both in patient, outpatient and community settings. Case work will include working directly with patients and their families, as well as consultation work with health and social care colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and previous experience working within a setting relevant to Clinical Psychology or Neuro Psychology.
The post will allow opportunities to contribute to research and service development. The service has good links with the Sheffield Training course.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Psychologist (at least 2.1) or BSc and conversion to Psychology.
* Eligibility for graduate basis for registration (GBR)
* Post qualification training relevant clinical practice of neurorehabilitation practice
Experience
* Previous experience working in clinical service setting relevant to Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology
* Demonstratable Clinical Neuropsychology experience within the context of NHS or private sector service is desirable
* Experience in brain injury rehabilitation is desirable
* Experience of working within a neurobehavioural framework is desirable
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team (MDT is desirable)
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Neuropsychology and Neurorehabilitation
* Knowledge regarding Neuropsychological Assessment and Interventions both within community and inpatient service context
Skills/Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively at both written and oral level, including sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional people within and outside the NHS
* The ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a clinical service context
* Able to work independently, prioritise and manage own workload
* Able to seek advice and supervision when required. An ability to develop a good therapeutic relationship with service users
* Able to work in an inter-disciplinary team
* Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area
* An enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological therapy, knowledge and skills.
* Skills to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
