Operational Technology (OT) Engineer
Location
Hartlepool – 5 days on site BPSS clearance required 2–5 years of experience
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support for OT systems and cyber security management across the full lifecycle (development to in-service operation)
* Support configuration control and system management, including tools, data, and repositories
* Ensure OT security, regulatory compliance, and industrial safety are embedded in all activities
* Act as a point of contact for site OT security matters, supporting:
* Plant Computer Systems Security (PCSS) practitioners
* Cyber security (Blue Team) activities
* Maintain and support key OT documentation and systems, including plant network diagrams, OT asset registers, security case documentation, security operating procedures, and cyber incident response processes
* Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing feedback and supporting team development
Required Skills
* Understanding of the lifecycle of OT/I&C systems, particularly configuration control, security considerations, and in-service management
* Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
Required Qualifications
* A degree in Software Engineering, CyberSecurity or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent military experience
* Eligible for (or holding) UK security clearance
Desirable Skills
* Up to 2 years’ experience (or relevant placements) in Operational Technology (OT) systems
* Industrial control / I&C systems
* Configuration management or cyber security
* System reliability and fault tolerance
* Proof testing and maintenance practices
* Through-life asset management and obsolescence
* IEC 62443
* NIST Cyber Security Framework
* IEC 61508
* Interest in OT cyber security, industrial networks, and infrastructure systems
