Reporting directly to the Flight Operations Manager, the UAS Systems Operator is responsible for managing aircraft systems in flight and supporting flight trials activities.
Tasks and Accountabilities
* Train and deploy as part of a Mission Crew of up to 5 people – responsible for managing various UAS systems and ensuring correct procedures are followed.
* Candidates must have a practical scientific/engineering background with an ability to work as a team member as well as occasionally unsupervised on own initiative, have good analytical skills, with the ability to identify a problem, interact with the right stakeholders and provide a solution.
* Support planning, execution and reporting of ground activities, flight trials and demonstrations.
* Feedback to the systems engineering team any lessons learned to help improve the system.
* Support Engineers with Assembly, Integration and Testing of the UAS.
* Support with customer engagement.
Required Skills
Essential:
* Knowledge and understanding of technologies relevant to Unmanned air systems (UAS).
* A driven, self-motivated, committed individual with a passion for innovation.
* Technical qualification or suitable experience in a technical or engineering role.
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, with a positive and pro-active attitude.
* Careful and organised approach to tasks.
* Reliable in respect of quality and timeliness of deliverable items.
* Evidence of taking ownership of problems or high level requirements.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to travel and be deployed on projects internationally.
Desirable:
* Previous Flight experience in manned aviation with recognised CAA /FAA qualifications.
* Supervisory experience, able to coach and mentor new team members.
* CAA sUAS GVC and/or FAA Part 107 License (or ability to obtain one) with previous documented UAS or R/C experience.
* Understanding of flight planning, meteorology and airspace management.
* Working within a development/test environment.
