The Opportunity
A leading provider of specialist engineering solutions to the rail infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Eastwood, Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and safety-focused organisation that plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the UK’s rail network.
The successful candidate will support the finance function with a wide range of responsibilities, including invoice processing, reconciliations, month-end reporting, and ledger management. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly organised and able to use their initiative to complete tasks and become a valuable asset within the team.
Responsibilities:
Logging and processing purchase invoices and credit notes in line with company policy.
Supporting supplier statement reconciliations and resolving invoice queries.
Maintaining the integrity of the purchase ledger and ensuring timely payment runs.
Preparing and posting month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Managing petty cash, fuel cards, and fleet data.
Reconciling bank statements, intercompany balances, and unallocated cash.
Supporting the preparation of FX exposure reports and integration routines.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
The Candidate:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounts environment.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
A proactive and diligent approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
