An exciting opportunity for a hands‑on Group Finance Manager to join a high‑growth SME within the contracts‑led sector. The business is undergoing a period of transformation, evolving from manual, spreadsheet‑driven processes to a more automated, scalable finance function.
This role will play a key part in strengthening financial controls, improving reporting accuracy, and driving process automation to support continued growth. Key duties to include:
* Ownership of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
* Preparation of group consolidations across multiple entities
* Full responsibility for balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations and reviews
* Lead on year‑end close and statutory accounts, liaising with external auditors
* Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Process Improvement & Automation
* Drive the transition from manual processes to automated systems and workflows
* Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable finance processes
* Lead system enhancements and support implementation of new finance tools
* Improve data quality, reporting consistency, and controls
Commercial & Operational Support
* Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight on contract performance
* Support revenue recognition and cost tracking within a contracts‑led environment
* Provide analysis on margins, profitability, and cost drivers
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Leadership & Team Management
* Direct management and development of one finance team member
* Support the wider finance function through coaching and process guidance
* Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
Stakeholder Management
* Work closely with senior leadership to support decision‑making
* Act as a key point of contact for auditors, advisors, and external stakeholders
* Communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non‑finance audiences
Technical Skills
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Current Group Accountant looking to step up, or a first‑time mover from practice (Audit/Accounts) seeking industry exposure
* Strong technical accounting knowledge with strong track record of owning month‑end and year‑end processes
* Experience of multi‑entity reporting and consolidations
* Experience of improving and automating finance processes
£60,000 to £65,000 plus full benefits package to include Hybrid working
