Ward Manager – Acute Inpatient Mental Health
Hours: Full-Time | 37.5 hours per week
A well-respected independent mental health service based in the Chelmsford area is seeking a passionate and experienced Ward Manager to lead a dynamic and multidisciplinary team on an adult acute inpatient ward. This role represents a rare opportunity to step into a key leadership position within a highly regarded clinical setting.
The Role:
As Ward Manager, you will take full clinical and operational leadership of a busy acute ward. You will be a visible, proactive role model for nursing staff, supporting a culture of safety, compassion, and clinical excellence. The position involves leading a team of nurses and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide professional leadership and daily clinical oversight to the ward team
* Act as a senior clinical decision-maker and mentor to staff
* Ensure compliance with governance standards and regulatory frameworks
* Drive forward improvements in care delivery and patient outcomes
* Manage ward resources effectively and ensure staff development needs are met
* Support recruitment, induction, and supervision processes
Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior nursing capacity (e.g., Charge Nurse, Deputy Ward Manager)
* Proven track record of effective clinical leadership within mental health settings
* Strong interpersonal, organisational, and decision-making skills
* Able to lead by example and build cohesive, high-performing teams
* Experience within adult acute inpatient mental health services
* Familiarity with CQC standards and clinical governance procedures
* Experience supporting service users with high acuity or complex presentations
