Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on daily activities related to the regime. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform initiatives and helping transition the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The duties and responsibilities include:
* Waste classification technical leadership
* Technical leadership for Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance
* Leadership of priority waste streams
* Providing technical support on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
* Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

Additional information
You will have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. Appropriate training will be provided. The role is based in our EA Office, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
