Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Working and operating all machines safely in line with the company’s H&S policy Load/unload the machines Be able to programme machines Be able to set machines Be able to operate machines Measure components using standard measuring equipment Read drawing features that are being manufactured React to non-conforming parts that are produced / problem solve Change inserts/tooling as and when necessary Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing self and other by working in a safe environment Ensure materials are ready and by the machine when setting up a component Keep working areas and floors clean and free from oils and swarf Keep machines clean Report/identify any consumable items that need re-ordering Loading/unloading finished components/raw materials as and when required Checking goods inwards from external processing Part marking Packing finished components (bagging) Assembly work Picking raw material from the warehouse (Unit8) To be part of continuous improvement Report any problems to the setters Progress and work towards objective from your Personal Development Plan Complete other duties as assigned from time to time as required by the business The training you will be getting You will be learning the skills knowledge and behaviours to achieve the CNC Machining pathway within the Level 3 Engineering Technician, gaining a full Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard; Engineering technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education This will be delivered as 3 days in College (during term time) and then the remainder of the working week will be in the workplace. The hours will be 9am - 4pm during College days and then the workplace setting hours will be 8.30 am to 5pm (half hour unpaid unpaid lunch.) What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship On successful completion of the Apprenticeship we would look to fully employ the candidate, as a CNC Operator, progress to Setter and/or Programmer.
