Overview
Behaviour Support - SEN/SEMH (Temporary or Permanent, 30 Hours per Week). We are partnering with a trauma‑informed independent school and alternative provision in Northumberland, seeking experienced, proactive, and empathetic Behaviour Support Assistants to join their team on temporary and permanent placements. This specialist setting provides a tailored educational and therapeutic environment for students with complex needs, including SEMH and SEN. Behaviour Support Assistants will either work alongside teaching staff in a 2:1 setting or support individual pupils directly, delivering bespoke sessions and targeted interventions as required.
Responsibilities

* Plan, deliver, and report on 1:1 or small group interventions.
Hours
30 hours per week. Core hours: 9:00am–3:00pm, with occasional meetings or training outside these times.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs (including personal/lived experience).
* Skilled in managing challenging behaviours and applying trauma-informed practices.
* Confident in delivering behavioural interventions, including positive handling where appropriate (training provided).
* Able to build strong, trusting, and consistent relationships with students.
* Clear and effective communicator with pupils, colleagues, and families.
* Committed to safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries.
* Dedicated to supporting both the academic and emotional development of learners.
* Able to work collaboratively with teachers and follow guidance from the Teaching Assistant Lead.
* Capable of planning, delivering, and reporting on 1:1 or small group interventions.
