Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
To assist the line manager in the development of ICT within the School and ensure that all computer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order to meet the needs of the school.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SupervisionThis is a discretionary element of the job description. The grade may be awarded if supervision is not a component of the post.
Provision and Maintenance of ICT Facilities and Practical Resources
* Ensure that the school owned microcomputer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order.
* Co-ordinate the repair of all ICT related equipment.
* Liaise with the authorised repair agencies as is necessary.
* Assist with the installation of ICT related hardware and ensuring its successful operation.
* Perform routine software operations as required.
* Manage the daily booking system of iPads/Chromebooks
* Maintain an accurate register of all BYOD, Device Loans and Assistive Technology devices
* Provide front-line technical support to all staff and pupils for all computer related problems
* Manage the WAN network ensuring that all mobile devices are fit for purpose.
* Make back-up copies of software for security purposes as required.
* Assist with the installation of software on any school managed network.
* Assist with the installation of software on stand-alone systems.
* Make minor alterations, where appropriate and copyright permitting, to software as directed.
* Liaise with the managed service provider as required to support the maintenance of the C2K infrastructure.
* Be an appointed C2K manager, ensuring that all staff have access to usernames, passwords and internet capabilities as required.
Curricular Assistance
* Development, maintenance and operation of manual and/or computerised systems in relation to administrative tasks associated with the area of work.
* Maintenance of an inventory/records of departmental resources.
* Assistance in the ordering/purchasing, receiving, checking, storing and distribution of resources.
* Provide advice and support to teachers and support staff on how ICT can support the curriculum
* Keep up to date with ICT future developments and advise on future projects.
* Undertake relevant training to keep up to date with ICT developments in education
* Provide training to staff as and when required.
General
* Undertaking supervision in the library area during both lunchtimes, providing ICT support to pupils when required.
* Support all staff in ensuring the general safety of pupils.
* Assist with evacuation in emergencies.
* Undertake photocopying as required.
Technical staff may be required to undertake any of the following duties:
* Handling cash in relation to the purchase of practical materials.
* Assisting with hospitality at meetings and school functions.
* Carrying out minor maintenance repairs throughout the school within the competence of the employee.

FLEXIBLE WORKING OPTIONS AVAILABLE
OPTION 1
You are required to be on duty during school term plus two additional weeks. The timing of the two additional weeks is at the discretion of the Principal of the school.
OR
OPTION 2
You are required to be on duty for the contracted weekly hours, working during periods of school closure except when on annual leave or other authorised absence. Duties will normally be provided by the school. However, where necessary, alternative work and/or training will be provided by the Authority at any other such place of employment as may be reasonably required.
OR
OPTION 3
To work as for option 2 with a further option to request periods of unpaid leave during extended school holidays or closures.
