Paediatric Dietitian

Fixed Term: 12 months | 26.25 hrs per week to cover maternity leave | Internal.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate dietitian to join our team, giving an opportunity to gain experience in paediatrics within a nationally renowned children's hospital.
Previous experience in paediatric dietetics is essential; however support and training will be provided. You'll work across both inpatient and outpatient settings, developing your skills in this rewarding and dynamic field. You'll also participate in the Sheffield dietetic student training programme, supporting student dietitians on placements.

Main duties of the job
* Manage a caseload of inpatients, outpatients, and telephone consultations, providing dietetic advice and developing personalised care plans.
* Assess nutritional needs, prescribe treatment, and collaborate with MDTs to adjust care plans.
* Maintain accurate records, support safe patient discharge, and collaborate with relevant agencies and catering services.
* Deliver high‑quality education to healthcare professionals, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs.
* Participate in clinical audits, review new research, and contribute to evidence‑based dietetic procedures.
* Communicate complex or sensitive information using counselling skills to build rapport and adapt methods for understanding across diverse needs.

Qualifications
* UK Registered Dietitian with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Post‑graduate qualification to Master’s level or equivalent experience.
* Member of the Paediatric Group of the BDA.
* BDA Paediatric Group Module (appropriate to role).
* Counselling skills including behaviour change and motivational approaches.
Experience
* Experience working in diverse dietetic and clinical settings.
* Experience managing caseloads and delivering high‑quality patient care with supervisory support.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including discharge planning and community liaison.
* Experience participating in clinical audits, service evaluations, and clinical governance.
* Experience supporting pre‑registration dietetic student learning and clinical education.
Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding of paediatric dietetic principles and nutritional care pathways.
* Knowledge of safeguarding principles and legal, ethical, and professional frameworks.
* Ability to adapt communication style with cultural sensitivity, employing motivational interviewing and counselling.
* Competence in using dietary analysis software for assessment and monitoring.
* Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural approaches.

Salary and Contract
£39,959 to £48,117 a year pro rata.
Fixed term – 12 months, part‑time – 26.25 hrs per week.
