Worcestershire Children First are looking for a Family Support Worker to join their dedicated Children’s Social Care team, supporting families where there is a Child in Need plan or where children are at risk of entering care.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a proactive and supportive team committed to helping children thrive within their families and communities.
The Role: As a Family Support Worker, you’ll:
Work directly with children, young people, and their families to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
Support parents and carers to strengthen their parenting skills and build understanding of child development.
Provide hands-on support to families where there is a risk of breakdown or where children are on the edge of care.
Collaborate closely with Social Workers and partner agencies as part of the ‘team around the family’.
Complete detailed assessments, contribute to planning and review meetings, and maintain accurate written records.
Work flexibly – including occasional evenings or weekends – to meet the needs of the families you support.
About You: We’re looking for someone with:
Proven experience working with children and families, ideally within social care, early help, or community support.
Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding processes.
Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
The ability to work independently, flexibly, and under pressure.
A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Childcare, Early Years, or Social Care.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during the working day.
Desirable extras include experience with pre-school children, knowledge of child protection procedures, and confidence using IT systems such as Liquid Logic.
Why Join Worcestershire Children First? You’ll be part of a forward-thinking service that believes in:
Customer Focus – putting children and families at the heart of everything we do.
A Can-Do Culture – being proactive, creative, and solution-focused.
Freedom within Boundaries – working collaboratively to make a real difference.
You’ll also have access to ongoing professional development, flexible working, and a supportive management structure that values your input and initiative.
