At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A Little More About Your Role…

The increasing threat of climate change has heightened the risk of flooding, impacting local communities. To strive and mitigate this risk, we are collaborating closely with our Local Government clients and stakeholders in South Wales.

We are seeking an experienced drainage engineer to join our team and address the growing demand for sustainable drainage, coal tip remediation and flood alleviation schemes.

We are committed to preserving the quality of life in our local communities, particularly in the valleys of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, and Bridgend. If you are passionate about sustainable urban drainage, have a proven track record in design and are eager to lead the management and delivery of civil engineering projects, we want to hear from you.

You will thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment, working closely with ecologist, infrastructure, geotechnical, structural engineers. If you’re looking for a role that combines technical challenges, strategic oversight, and direct community impact this could be the job for you

Responsibilities

* Overseeing complex drainage schemes from conception through to delivery.
* Quality assurance checks
* Develop drainage solutions for highway, infrastructure and site development schemes for feasibility, planning, tender, detailed design and construction support stages of the project.
* Design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) with good knowledge of relevant current standards and guidelines and contemporary environmental solutions to manage land drainage.
* Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of you and team members.
* Take responsibility for your own personal development and the development of others.

Your Team

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in our Communities business, focused on the delivery of services to Rhondda Cynon Taff, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Councils. The successful start of a new contract in April and the increase in service requests for drainage work and flood alleviation means that the Infrastructure Drainage team needs to expand.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

* Chartered (C Eng) Engineer professional qualification or someone working towards professional qualification CEng.
* Minimum 8 years’ experience.
* Strong experience of feasibility to detailed design delivery and oversight compliant with SuDS Manual, Sewers for Adoptions, DMRB, Local Design Specifications, CDM2015 and BIM.
* Preparation and approval of contract documents and specifications
* Clear evidence of successful delivery of projects/programmes and teams to meet both quality and commercial targets.
* Skilled in the use of Civil 3D, Causeway Flow, or Micro-Drainage.
* Knowledge and understanding of the SAB process.
* Ability to discuss and review the proposed solution with contractor, clients and external bodies such as SAB, LLFA’s, Statutory Undertakers, EA, NRW, etc.
* Construction support and survey supervision.
* Strong communication skills
