We are looking for an experienced, motivated and dynamic medical receptionist for 25 hours per week to join the team at St James Medical Centre. We are based in leafy Rawtenstall, close to good motorway links. Previous General Practice experience is preferred but training will be given.
Main duties of the job
As part of the admin team the successful candidate will be responsible for greeting patients and arriving them on the clinical system, dealing with queries and appointment requests both in person and by telephone and text message. The practice aims to have staff that are multi skilled and staff will broaden skills, learning to perform other admin functions. The practice is often very busy and therefore resilience and flexibility is required along with excellent communication skills.

We have real team spirit in practice and the receptionist role works closely with the clinical team of GPs, nurses and wider health care roles. The team are supportive and friendly and happy to share skills and knowledge with colleagues.
Job responsibilities
Answering telephone calls, texts and online request for queries and appointments. Signposting patients to the most appropriate staff or service. Liaising with clinical staff, updating systems, dealing with incoming and outgoing correspondence, processing repeat prescriptions. Supporting colleagues to deal with the daily workload and providing cover as needed where possible.

* Experience in a customer facing role.
* Experience of working with defined policies and processes.
* Possess good communication skills.
* Resilient in nature and reliable.
* Good work ethic.
* Flexible and willing to undertake training to learn new skills and roles.
* Experience of working in General Practice.
* Experience of using the EMIS system.
Qualifications
* Good standard of education in English and Maths (level 2)
