Role Description
This is a full-time on-site position based in Sittingbourne. As a Principal Housing Standards & Assistance Officer, you will manage and oversee housing standards and assistance programs to ensure the delivery of high-quality housing services. Day-to-day responsibilities include inspecting properties to ensure compliance with housing standards, addressing safety issues, coordinating housing improvement grants, advising landlords and tenants, and developing policies and strategies to tackle housing-related challenges. You will also liaise with stakeholders, including property owners, tenants, and other council departments, to ensure a collaborative approach to improving housing conditions within the community.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of housing standards, regulations, and building codes, including experience in conducting property inspections and assessments
* Project and policy management experience, including the ability to develop and implement housing assistance programs
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders, including residents and community partners
* Problem-solving, research, and analytical skills to address housing-related challenges and suggest innovative solutions
* Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in housing, building surveying, or related fields
* Experience in leading and supervising teams is desirable
