Hill Care Group is a long‑established and highly regarded care provider, operating residential, nursing and dementia care homes across England and Northern Ireland. Founded over 20 years ago, the Group has grown steadily to now operate 62 care homes through its two brands: 34 in Hill Care (England) and 28 in Beaumont (Northern Ireland).
Role purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Finance Intern to support the finance function within our care home operations in England. This role offers hands‑on experience in finance and accounting within the health and social care sector, providing exposure to real‑world financial processes.
The internship is designed to provide practical experience, professional development and insight into a finance career.
About The Role
Key responsibilities
Under supervision, the Finance Intern will support the Finance Team with the following activities:
Reporting and analysis
· Support the preparation of weekly and monthly management information
· Assist with data extraction from finance systems and spreadsheets
· Help review variances against budgets and forecasts
Financial operations
· Assist with purchase ledger processing, including invoice entry and reconciliation
· Support sales ledger tasks, including billing and resident fee tracking
· Help with bank reconciliations and basic balance sheet checks
· Assist in maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records
Payroll
· Provide support with payroll processing checks and timesheets
· Assist in maintaining payroll related documentation
Ad‑hoc support
· Provide general administrative and analytical support to the Finance Team as required
· Participate in finance projects and process improvement initiatives
Person specification
· Currently studying towards or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Math, IT or a related subject
· Interest in pursuing a finance qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
· Strong numeracy and attention to detail
· A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with a passion for converting data into management information
· Good organisational and time‑management skills
· Professional attitude with a willingness to learn
· Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
